CANCER SURVIVOR NEEDS A NEW CEILING

Location:  North Minneapolis

Cancer Survivor, Single Mother of Two, Needs a New Ceiling

Cheryl is a hard working mom who lives in South Minneapolis. The mother of two children, Cheryl works for the local postal service and has lived in her home for 27 years. Her home presents her with many problems. The main problem is plumbing. There are leaks inside the interior of the house and other fixtures that aren’t working. She is also missing handles on all of her upstairs doors and is missing a few handrails.

Until recently, Cheryl has spent most of her vacation and sick days caring for her 12 year old son who has autism. Unfortunately, in the last few years Cheryl has been divorced by her husband, diagnosed with cancer, and this winter has undergone brain surgery. Due to these circumstances, Cheryl’s home is her only source of stability. In the summer, she works outside in her garden to remove herself from the stress of caring for her son, and the deterioration of the interior of her home.
